FAQs

Q1. Why should I go solar to power my home or Business?
Q2. How do Solar Panels or (PV) Photovoltaic modules work?
Q3. What are the components of a Solar photovoltaic system?
Q4. What is a Solar Rooftop Solution?

Solar rooftop solution is a type of solar power system in which solar panels are installed on the roof of any residential, Commercial, institutional and industrial buildings. This can be of two types (i) Solar Rooftop System with storage facility using battery, and (ii) Grid Connected Solar Rooftop System.

Q5. Will I receive electricity bills if I have installed solar PV Modules?

Yes you will receive your electricity bills unless you have a Grid-connected solar power system including battery storage to generate your own electricity. But surely you can dramatically reduce your utility bill by installing a solar power system that matches your energy requirement.

Q6. What Size of solar power system should I install?

The size of solar system depends on several factors. The First and the most important one is how much electricity you use, what all appliances you will run on solar power and for what duration of time. Next comes the size of your roof which will determine the no. of panels you can install, and the last one is how much you are willing to invest.

Q7. What is meant by Net-Metering and how will it benefit me?

Net metering is a billing mechanism which allows residential and commercial customers who generate their own electricity from solar power systems to feed electricity they do not use back into the utility grid and earn some revenue in return. Only the grid connected rooftop system can work on net metering basis. With net metering you only pay for the electricity that you use beyond what your solar panels can generate. Net metering policies differ from state to state.

Q8. Will my solar panel work in a blackout?

If you have a Grid connected solar power system installed at your place then it will shut off in the event of a blackout or power outrage to prevent utility repairers from getting electrocuted from your panels sending power back to the grid. However you can use inverter paired with battery along with your solar panels to provide you power backup during a blackout.

Q9. How much does a Solar system cost me?

The cost of your solar power system will vary greatly depending on the Wattage of appliances to be run on Solar, Monthly energy consumption from these appliances, Energy Backup required, Roof space available for plant setup.

Q 10. In which direction should the solar panels be installed ?

The direction of solar panel installation varies from country to country. The solar panels should be installed facing south if you are located in Northern hemisphere and true north if you are in southern hemisphere. Our country India, lies in the southern hemisphere so when the sun travels from east to west its inclination is towards south, be it summer or winter. So, In India the panels should be installed facing south direction.
